Parking & Transportation

Parking

*Warning: driving in or around DC on Friday is very congested. Be prepared for delays! It would be easiest to park somewhere for the entire weekend and stay within walking distance of campus or close to public transportation. Uber/Lyft are also great resources in DC.

Garages on campus: We’ve secured a special rate of $9/day (cash only) for the Southwest Garage on campus (Use 3611 Canal Road as the address for directions using GPS). Note there are two entrances/exits for the Southwest Garage. If you enter at the first entrance you come to (right off of Canal Rd), it’s easier to exit the garage by foot at opposite entrance (closer to the campus turf field) to access the conference locations. The Georgetown University Hotel and Conference Center garage is significantly more so beware of that if choosing a garage on campus.

Street parking: PAY ATTENTION TO SIGNAGE. For most residential areas, parking is free and unlimited on the weekends starting at 6:30 PM on Friday through Sunday night. Most areas with meters are enforced between 7 AM to 6:30 PM Monday through Saturday. On Sundays, there is free parking on any streets with parking meters in DC. This is the cheapest (and probably easiest) option in terms of parking for the weekend. Just make sure you check the signs on the block!

Garages in Georgetown: you can reserve a spot in a parking garage ahead of time to save money (if you would prefer not to park on the street) on SpotHero. The closest garage to campus is 3251 Prospect St. NW (0.5 mile) and is approximately $48 for the weekend if you book ahead of time. If you’re new to SpotHero, use this link for $7 off. Also more info here.

Public transportation

Georgetown does not have a metro stop. The closest metro stops are Dupont Circle and Rosslyn, VA. There are multiple buses that serve Georgetown: G2 comes to the University front gates, D6 comes to the Georgetown Hospital. These buses are $2.50/ride. The Georgetown Circulator has two routes (Dupont/Rosslyn and Union Station) that go to Wisconsin Ave and M St and are free for the month of March.
